Going Back Home finds the guitarist joined by longtime wingmen Norman Watt-Roy (bass) and Dylan Howe (drums), along with veteran keyboardist Mick Talbot and blues harpman Steve Weston. Bare-handed and wielding his picking arm like a crazed lumberjack, Johnson proved that one man and a black Telecaster could construct a wall of roaring chords, somehow firing off wailing leads in the midst of it like a sniper atop his perch. Mad-eyed and unblinking, lurching/darting/back-and-forthing about the stage, Johnson introduced the world to his own brand of rhythm/lead guitar. This electric band performance will feature songs spanning his career from early Stranglers to the current day.Īs the original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in the British rock band The Stranglers, he’s enjoyed massive success with 10 hit albums and 21 Top Forty singles, etching himself into Europe and the USA’s musical psyche with classic songs, including Peaches, No More Heroes, Golden Brown, Nice N’ Sleazy, Always the Sun and Duchess. Hugh Cornwell is one of the UK’s finest song writing talents and accomplished live performers. In Sept 2017, Wilko celebrated his 70th birthday and 30th Anniversary by playing a sold out show at the world famous Royal Albert Hall in London The Wilko Johnson Band was formed with ex-Blockhead Norman Watt-Roy on bass and Dylan Howe on drums, adding up to one of the most exciting R’n’B bands in the world today. An album of the year it featured reworkings of songs from Wilko’s Dr Feelgood days such as ‘ All Through The City’ and ‘Going Back Home’. Wilko has gone on to find further success recently after teaming up with Roger Daltrey on 2014’s Going Back Home. The original Dr Feelgood guitarist is known for his incredible distinctive chopping guitar style. In 2013, Wilko announced that, thanks to a second opinion and subsequent life-saving surgery, he was cancer-free. But despite the doctors’ worst predictions he continued to perform and present himself with vigour and a new zest for life. ‘I’m supposed to be dead!’ So said Wilko in a recent interview, having been diagnosed in late 2012 with terminal pancreatic cancer. Wilko Johnson, former Dr Feelgood guitarist is back with special guests Hugh Cornwell & band, playing at Leeds Stylus on 10 May.

I was unsure of where the FuelCell Supercomp Trainer would fit into my rotation. It’s “fine” but not my favorite, and there are other shoes that perform better. It’s not my favorite shoe for inclement weather due to the exposed rubber. I predict I’ll get 200-250 miles out of it. Anyway, I’ve put about 100 miles on the New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer and noticed it’s wearing down reasonably quickly. The New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer is already a heavy shoe, and more rubber makes it more serious, but we do not need more shoes with exposed rubber. There is an exposed midsole, which means the shoe will wear down faster and not provide as much traction. New Balance has coined this the “EnergyArc.”ĭurability and Traction: The bottom of the FuelCell Supercomp Trainer has a rubber covering on the forefoot and two vertical strips that protect the rear foot. Together the outsole groove and carbon plate work to return energy. It curves outward, and once the carbon plate flattens, it snaps back into shape. What about the carbon plate? The carbon plate is one of the most flexible out there but it also has a unique shape. This makes it more flexible than the Fuelcell TC and RC Elite v2. Your foot sinks into the foam and the groove contracts and propels you forward. There is a deep decoupled groove underneath the FuelCell Supercomp Trainer which helps give it an energetic ride. I wasn’t really sure what to expect because it’s a lot of shoe and it’s hard to picture running fast in them. New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer Ride:Ī lot is happening in the FuelCell Supercomp Trainer, and they all seem to mesh well. The FuelCell Supercomp Trainer in size 10.5 fits the best. In running shoes, I typically wear between a size 10-11 wide. Before now, there hasn’t been a wide carbon plated shoe, and now there is! Another thing to remember, and maybe why the New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer has been so popular, is that it’s available in wide. I always believe the best running shoe uppers disappear off your foot and the New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer does just that. The tongue wraps around your midfoot and keeps your foot secure. It kind of reminds me of the Asics Metaspeed Edge. The toe box has a large mentalization hole, and the entire upper is rough. It’s amazing how heavy the midsole is, yet how light and airy the upper is. The FuelCell Supercomp Trainer is constructed with a light, breathable upper. New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer Fit: Even compared to other maximalist trainers, the NB FuelCell Supercomp Trainer is heavy. Just picking up the NB FuelCell Supercomp Trainer, you can’t look past how heavy this shoe looks. It’s always interesting to try new models and that is just what the New Balance Fuelcell Supercomp Trainer is. Some are great like the Saucony Tempus…others are just ok or even mediocre. Also, he did not hesitate to insult Diamante for losing to Kyros, while not even bothering to give Baby 5 a chance to explain anything before attacking her for assumed treason. However, as seen when Machvise ran from Pica's large scale attack after Luffy angered the latter, there are times where his anger gets the better of him and he may neglect the safety of his family. Pica is also dishonest with wounded gladiators, attacking them indiscriminately. Likewise, he firmly believes Doflamingo is the rightful king of Dressrosa and the country belongs to the family. He also considers his crew as his family, as he set out personally to seek out the enemies who threaten their safety. He is very loyal to Doflamingo as he abandoned his battle with Zoro to protect Doflamingo after the Warlord's string puppet was decapitated by Kyros. He also has some pride in his sword, as he was offended just as easily when Zoro insulted is laugh. He is extremely sensitive about his voice, and in the event he does speak and is laughed at, he gets extremely upset, going as far as to brutally murder people for it. Pica seems to be a quiet individual, likely due to his surprisingly high pitched voice for his size. Of all the elite officers of the Donquixote Pirates, he is the most muscular and with the biggest and widest arms, hands and fingers, which are adorned with black gloves (purple in the anime) that reach up to his forearms.Īt a young age, Pica had a large frame, wearing only a small vest which exposed his chest, tattered shorts, and wore no shoes. His most recent appearance also shows him wearing a light-colored spade shaped armored chest plate with the spade symbol attached by light-colored leather straps and a metal chain in-between the light-colored leather straps at the top, with armor plating stretched and wrapped around his sides, and black and white armbands (light-brown and yellow gold in the anime) just around his elbows. He also wears a pair of light-colored greaves, and a large pair of black gloves (golden-yellow in the anime) that reaches up to his forearms. Underneath his pteruges is a pair of dark underwear. In the anime they are golden-yellow colored. He also wears a metallic belt with a black spade emblem with a light-colored outline on the front attached by chains in a manner resembling suspenders, albeit with chains wrapping around his hips and from front-to-back instead around his body, over a pteruges skirt in the manga. Ten years ago, he wore dark gauntlets and white bandages on both of his hands that go up halfway to his shoulders. He wears a yellow-gold spiked helmet with a narrow four-pointed star on the front with a spade on the top point the star covers his eyes in a visor-like fashion. There is a tattoo of a (black in the manga, purple in the anime) spade on the front side of both his shoulders. He is considerably taller than normal people, appearing as tall as Trebol and Diamante. The most distinctive features on his body are his shoulders, which have three (previously two) spikes protruding out of each shoulder blade that appears to be part of his actual flesh his shoulder grew to this point since he was wearing shoulder guards of such shape since puberty, thus causing them to shape like so. It appears that under his mask, he has a straight mustache. His hair is long and lavender, wavy and light, which hangs down to his shoulders. By the age of 24, he had replaced his makeshift armor from childhood to real golden armor and took to wearing black gloves. It is shown in a flashback that even as a nine-year-old child he possessed a similar hulking frame, while also wearing a silvery metal chainmail headguard and a pale yellow knights helmet, in addition to a white sleeveless t-shirt and black pants, that he would have until adulthood. Pica is an extremely broad, tall, intimidating and muscular man. With shift-based tags, people are automatically assigned tags that match their schedule and shift group name in Shifts.
